Introducing the Walker Wisdom Scholarship Fund
Ready For The World is proud to partner with the Walker family to establish the Walker Wisdom Scholarship Fund—an expanding educational initiative designed to help students develop the knowledge, character, leadership, and practical skills needed to be ready for the world.
The fund honors the legacy of Hank Walker, a Black entrepreneur who built generational wealth through his rental business, created employment opportunities for members of his family, and freely shared practical advice with others.
Hank Walker often said:
“You can’t take my money without taking my advice.”
His enduring reflection continues to guide the scholarship fund:
“What you do right now will dictate the rest of your life. Always ask yourself before you do something, will the 50 year old you like the 20 year old you?”
From a Family Legacy to Educational Opportunity
Ready For The World and the Walker family established the fund during the summer of 2026.
We began with a manual launch of the graduate scholarship and have worked diligently over the past month to transition the program to a secure, consistent digital application and management process.
We are now pleased to accept online applications for the remaining graduate-scholarship application period. The newly funded undergraduate scholarship is also officially open.
These scholarships represent the beginning of a growing partnership focused on creating meaningful educational opportunities and helping students prepare to lead, serve, make wise decisions, and positively influence the lives of others.
Walker Wisdom Graduate Leadership & Service Scholarship
The Walker Wisdom Graduate Leadership & Service Scholarship recognizes a graduate student who demonstrates:
- Responsible leadership and initiative.
- Meaningful service to others.
- Good academic standing.
- Clear professional and educational aspirations.
- Alignment with Hank Walker’s principles of practical wisdom, responsible decision-making, and creating opportunities for others.
One selected recipient will receive a $5,000 scholarship for eligible graduate tuition, room, and/or board expenses.
Applicants must be United States citizens currently residing in one of the 50 states or the District of Columbia and must be enrolled in an eligible master’s, doctoral, or post-baccalaureate professional-degree program at an accredited U.S. institution.
Applications are open to qualified students without regard to race, ethnicity, ancestry, sex, or gender.
Application deadline: Tuesday, September 29, 2026, at 5:00 p.m. Eastern Time
Decision date: On or before Friday, October 2, 2026
